Web Development Email Marketing Creative Direction

Goal

Develop a web campaign, including a landing page and email marketing, to increase conversion rates and receive applications from game studios for a $250,000 Game Accelerator program in partnership with Avalanche — a blockchain platform.

Research

During the brainstorming sessions where we set out to understand our target users, game development studios, we gained a few insights into their needs.

Key Insights

Competitive Audit

Successfull game accelerator campaigns from competitors include a strong fundraising and business mentorship approach, even for small teams.

Creative Direction

Accelerator go-to-market strategies include a strong hero section for websites with a playful and modern tech visual style.

Ideation

With a focus on receiving studio applications, the hero section and CTA were key to the landing page. Avalanche already posessed a strong visual style, which I leaned on to create a similar cohesive style and evolve the company's image by brand association.

Based on insights from competitive research, funding and expert mentorship were a value proposition worth highlighting to increase applications from indie developing studios — a "What We Offer" section would achieve that.

Development

I proceded to develop the landing page directly through WordPress with a responsive layout approach, highlighting the CTA and program offerings. The process was developed with updates to key stakeholders along the way.

I coordinated an email marketing campaign with a focus on conversions to the landing page including an email list with a target audience who had already subscribed to accelerator program updates to increase efficiency.

With support from the engineering team, I was able to authenticate the email domain to avoid the email appearing in spam folders and ensure open rates and decrease bounce rates.

Developed WordPress landing page screens for both desktop and mobile breakpoints.
The CTA was an application button which led to a responsive form that I implemented into the landing page.

Motion & Interaction

The final UX details for the landing page were motion animations which enrich the experience of the product and further elevates the brand with quality enchancements.

Motion animations included subtle fade in effects as the user scrolls through the website for further development enhancements.

Impact

In the short period of the campaign, the company successfully received applications from over 30 countries which exceeded business goals.

The email marketing campaign increased conversions to the landing page and applications form, which in turn brought over more applying studios.
